summertime is chocolate banana smoothie time

I know it's summer and I'm at home when I have one of these almost every morning. It's really pretty good for you but tastes decadent and is surprisingly filling. Basically, freeze a banana and throw it in the blender with some chocolate soymilk. The variations are endless: a little peanut butter, a little cinnamon, different kinds of milk, etc. If you've never frozen banana before, you are missing out. It tastes like vanilla ice cream! Pro tip: slice bananas before you freeze them. It's easier on the blender if you're making a smoothie, and more fun if you're eating them plain. Happy summer!

  1. If all of your ingredients are liquids or very fine powders, like flour or sugar, you can usually substitute a blender for a mixer. For example, you can make whipped cream or crepe batter in a blender. I wouldn't use the blender for anything with thick ingredients, like a frosting; it wouldn't move around enough in the Best Hand Blender Reviews jar to come in contact with the blades. I also wouldn't use a blender for something that is delicate or easy to over-mix, like cake batter.

Bonus note: you can buy hand blenders (also called stick blenders or immersion blenders.) These devices allow you to blend things in a pot or bowl. They are great for, say, mixing a single smoothie in a cup or blending soup in a pot.
